ABOUT THE ALLAN GRAY ORBIS HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
Students in Grade 6 who plan to enter Grade 8 in 2027 and who exhibit high academic performance, entrepreneurial potential, and financial need are eligible to apply for the award.
SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE AND BENEFITS
Tuition, boarding, stationery, textbooks, uniforms, casual attire, toiletries, support for further activities, and a monthly allowance are all covered by the scholarship.
Additionally available to scholars will be workshops, seminars, and speakers; an annual conference for entrepreneurs; an online learning campus; program officer mentorship; and a network of like-minded individuals.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Before applying, candidates must meet the following minimal standards:.
- You have to be a citizen of South Africa, and at least one of your parents must be as well.
- You must have been born in 2013 or 2014 and be between the ages of 11 and 12.
- In the academic year 2025, you have to be in Grade 6.
- In 2027, you had to be starting high school (grade 8).
- You must demonstrate a need for money and have a monthly household income of no more than R20,000.
- You must have received at least 70% in both English and math in grades five and six.
- You have to express interest in starting your own company or becoming an entrepreneur.
- You need to have the following qualities of an entrepreneur: Growth mindset (the conviction that one's intelligence can be enhanced); self-efficacy (the conviction that one can accomplish goals); leadership (the ability to positively lead and influence others); opportunity identification (the capacity to recognize and seize worthwhile opportunities); curiosity (the capacity to investigate and uncover new information); and problem solving (the capacity to come up with innovative solutions to problems).

APPLICATION PROCESS FOR THE ALLAN GRAY ORBIS HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
There are two methods for submitting applications:

Step 4: Attach the supporting documentation that is mentioned below.
Manual Application:
Step 1: Get the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Scholarship Application Form (.pdf) and fill it out.
Step 2: Gather copies of the supporting documentation you need, as indicated below.

Along with your application, send in clear copies of the following supporting material:
- Birth certificate without abbreviations (certified copy)
- ID documents of parents or legal guardians (certified copies)
- Report for Grade 5 Term 4 (certified copy)
- Report for Grade 6 Term 2 (certified copy)
- Guardians or parents’ proof of income (certified copies of most recent payslips, three months' worth of bank statements if you're working, six months' worth of business account bank statements if you're self-employed, original affidavit if you're jobless, or a certified copy of your pension income, if applicable)
- If parents have passed away: a certificate of death
- If the parents are no longer together, a divorce decree
- If residing with a guardian in law: evidence of guardianship under law
submitting these documents is required; failing to do so could result in your application being rejected
SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION
Apply and send in the necessary supporting documents :
- In December 2025, successful candidates must take the Grade 6 Foundation exam in English and mathematics.
- Interview invitations will be extended to selected candidates in February or March of 2026.
- Candidates will be asked to interview at placement schools.
- The grant will be given to applicants who earn placement school recommendations.
- Following the scholarship award, the Scholar's caretaker, the placement school, and the Foundation will sign the Memorandum of Agreement.
An SMS with the results will be sent to all candidates, regarding their scholarship application status if it was successful or not
